Support Services
Connection Groups- start January 2026
Connection Groups are faith-based support groups designed to help individuals grow spiritually, emotionally, and practically. Each group is topical, focusing on a specific area of life or need while blending biblical principles with mental health support and encouragement. Through shared experiences and practical skill-building, participants find community, path to healing, and strength for everyday life.
Trauma is impacting so many of us…our kids, our friends, our coworkers.
It’s often the hidden barrier preventing connection and positive change in our families, communities, and organizations.
But there is HOPE.
Trauma-informed care training prepares you to:
Struggle less and work better together
Build stronger relationships and feel more connected
Identify trauma’s impacts
Understand the meaning behind the behavior

Sleep in Heavenly Peace
So many great charities provide clothing, meals, and toys to families in need. But as wonderful as this aid is, few organizations offer suitable beds and bedding to the kids in these families.
At SHP, we fully believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. When it was brought to our attention that the need for beds went far beyond our own neighborhoods, we stepped up and took initiative. We’re a national organization answering the call to a national problem.
CarePortal is a network of people in your community who care and want to help meet real needs for families like yours. If you're facing a challenge—like needing a bedding, clothing, school supplies, or help with a child’ sports fees—CarePortal can connect your need with someone nearby who’s ready to support your family. It’s a simple way to get help from people who want to see your family safe, strong, and thriving. The request will be met only for families with children in the home.

Nationally, 50% of foster families quit after the first year or after their first placement, primarily because they didn’t feel supported. The Care Communities model has been proven to retain up to 90% of those foster parents.
A Care Community is a group of 4-8 people/households who come around a foster family to support them. Care Community members volunteer 1-2 times per month by providing meals, helping with childcare, mentoring, transportation, household duties, and other practical support as needed.
